Alexander Neill

GIS Guest Expert Alexander Neill offers analysis and expertise to clients on a wide range of concerns associated with Asia-Pacific security and geopolitics. Over 20 years of engagement, he has developed high-level links with the strategic community in Washington, London, Beijing, Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul and Delhi, including panel participation in key summits and closed-door discussions. Mr. Neill provides regular commentary in international media.

A graduate of London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Mr. Neill worked for the British and U.S. governments in his early career for focusing on Asia Pacific security concerns. 

From 2005, he served as Head of the Asia Security Programme at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) in London. 

From 2013-2020 he was a Shangri-La Dialogue Senior Fellow for Asia-Pacific security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, based in Singapore. In January 2020 he founded his own strategic advisory consultancy, Alexander Neill Consulting Pte. Ltd. in Singapore.
