The Balkans’ long wait for EU integration drags on
More politics got in the way of Western Balkans countries progressing toward EU integration at the end of last year, and this year membership talks seem out of reach as well. Some voices say remapping the region could make it easier, while others suggest an economic association like what Norway and Switzerland have. The longer the delay, the greater the opportunity Russia and China will have to make further inroads in the region.
