Candidates get set for Chile’s presidential race
Chile’s voting laws were altered for October’s municipal elections, but as usual, most of the candidates were men aged over 45 who already held office. It was hoped o increase the turnout at the election, but instead it collapsed. However, the results have already led two top politicians launching their campaigns for the 2013 presidential polls and a third, former president Michelle Bachelet, is expected to join them soon.
SEBASTIAN Pinera’s Alianza coalition has suffered a setback in municipal elections which could indicate that Chile is in a mood for change at the presidential polls in November 2013.
