Tunisia is a sign of hope in a region beset by problems. It has managed to overcome the initial Islamist push democratically and succeeded in a smooth transition to the rule of law. On paper at least, this is a defeat for movements inspired by the Muslim Brotherhood, but it is still too early to say whether the Salafi movement and the Brotherhood have been relegated to the opposition or if they are merely biding their time to return to power.
