Myths and realities of the Nordic welfare state

Far from being a homogenous bloc, Nordic countries differ greatly when it comes to their implementation of the welfare state so idealized by Western liberals. While Denmark has invested in a model that capitalizes on flexibility and national unity, Sweden has opted for an internationalist approach that is slowly eating away at much of what the country has built during the 20th century.
