Dr. Lucja Cannon
GIS Guest Expert Dr Lucja Cannon is the New York-based chief economist for a boutique investment management firm. Previously, she was a high level policy adviser to ministers of privatization, project manager and strategist of international development projects for multilateral banks, major consulting firms and non-profits on issues of free market reforms, privatization and private investment in Poland, Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Russia, and Central, South and Southeast Asia.
She also has been associated with prominent Washington international affairs think tanks, such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Brookings Institution, and others. She is the author of numerous reports, studies and book chapters and was a lecturer on market reforms in developing countries at international conferences, US government institutions, and universities in Denmark, Germany, Turkey, Cyprus, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, and the United States.
She was a commentator for CNN International and her articles and book reviews appeared in the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Houston Chronicle, the Washington Times, Privatization International, and others. She received her B.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University where she was an International Fellow.
