Six months after a catastrophic tsunami and nuclear accident Japan is back in business. Now the country's newly-elected prime minister is developing a new energy strategy which will see it produce 10 per cent of its electricity from alternative sources in less than 20 years. This is good news for foreign business as GIS expert Professor Dr Stefan Lippert explains in this briefing.

JAPAN has made it through the hot summer without suffering blackouts. The energy-saving measures taken by households, companies and public institutions have proved effective.
