India-Africa bridge-building cements firm economic ties

India may have many competitors for building-partnerships in Africa – but New Delhi’s modest efforts are paying off. For despite not having the deep pockets to match China's inroads on the continent or the diplomatic and military clout to match the US or Western Europe, India has used its entrepreneurial private-sector to good advantage to widen and deepen trade with Africa.

INDIA’S interest in broadening diplomatic and economic relationships with countries south of the equator is nowhere more evident than in its outreach to countries on the African continent.
