Japan’s chat service Line takes on Facebook and Twitter

In two years, the Japanese social messaging service - Line - has grown at a phenomenal rate, outpacing its rivals Facebook and Twitter in the race to attract more users, and changing the way people communicate around the world. The Japanese chat service took 19 months to notch up 100 million users, less than half the time taken by its rivals. By May 2013 Line had reached 150 million users worldwide. It is now looking to expand in Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
