North Korea’s nuclear test after playing fast and loose with world opinion

But hopes of peace and help evaporated when North Korea carried out a nuclear test in February 2013 and demonstrated its continued game of brinkmanship with more aggressive posturing which even antagonised its few friends.

NEW Year’s Day 2013 was a rare moment of hope for observers of North Korea. That was when the country’s leadership intimated that it wanted to pull back from the cycles of dangerous nuclear brinkmanship.
