Relevance beyond the crisis: Pandemic geopolitics in the Western Balkans
In the Western Balkans, the coronavirus could aggravate several preexisting challenges. Not only is the crisis likely to delay enlargement negotiations with Brussels, it may also be used as an excuse by governments to put off key reforms. If a second wave materializes, the six countries will need considerable foreign assistance to avoid an economic crisis and the political upheaval that could come with it.
