Now Nigeria’s neighbours face terror threat from Boko Haram

The crimes of the Boko Haram terrorists who have taken over a large area of northeastern Nigeria are many. They include murder, rape, kidnapping, forced religious conversion and suicide bombings. But this is not a regional rebellion only affecting Nigeria: it is part of a much broader geopolitical destabilisation movement. The group’s immediate objectives are likely to be expanding its sphere of influence on the northern part of Cameroon, threatening N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, and trying to link up with the jihadists in Libya.
