Obama’s face-to-face briefings reflect the new state of Europe

US President Barack Obama has been busy on his hectic trip to Europe, holding head-to-head talks with a range of national leaders and even, briefly, meeting Vladimir Putin. His talks in Warsaw were particularly significant, as they reflect the strategic and economic importance of Poland to the US and its allies in the wake of Russia’s seizure of Ukraine. His clear message was that the security of Nato member states is fully guaranteed.
