Mikkel Vedby Rasmussen (born 1973) is a professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. From 2014 to 2015 Professor Rasmussen was the head of the Strategy and Policy Office in the Danish Ministry of Defence. Previously, Dr. Rasmussen served as the director of the Centre for Military Studies at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. Professor Rasmussen has also served as the Head of the Danish Institute for Military Studies and been a Project Director at the Danish Institute for International Studies.
Professor Rasmussen has been published widely on security and defence issues. His publications include The West, Civil Society and the Construction of Peace (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003), The Risk Society at War (Cambridge University Press, 2006) and The Military’s Business (Cambridge University Press, 2015).
Rasmussen received his Ph.D. from the University of Copenhagen and holds an MSc in Political Science from that university, as well as an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
