Strategic mineral resources – a solution in space?

The European Union is facing shortages of 14 raw materials critical for industry, green power, defence and technological applications. The production of these scarce elements are concentrated in just a few countries which makes Europe’s economy vulnerable to political instability and regional uncertainty. Securing sources and supply has become crucial. EU researchers are formulating strategies for dealing with potentially reduced supply. Entrepreneurs are looking at new opportunities – which includes mining in space.
