Threat of violence hangs over Kenya elections

Kenya is about to elect a new president. But there are fears that the country could descend into the same post-election violence that marred the 2007 elections after the results were heavily disputed. There could be a further worry for the country, however. One of the two leading candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta, has been indicted by the International Criminal Court at The Hague for crimes against humanity.

KENYA is approaching the March 4, 2013, general elections with growing apprehension.

The disputed result in the 2007 presidential election led to 1,300 people being killed and around 600,000 displaced after riots sparked internal chaos.
