Ukraine is to go to the polls at the end of October. It will be a defining moment for the war-torn former Soviet state. Many see it as an opportunity to sweep away the old guard and move forward with peace and negotiations with Russia while another camp call for stronger backing from Nato and confrontation with the Kremlin. Meanwhile pro-Russian rebels in the east will only accept self-rule.
