Vega - Europe’s new 'lighter, quicker, cheaper' launcher

The launch of Europe's first lightweight rocket, Vega, is a milestone for French aerospace company Arianespace - which is meeting a growing and increasingly competitive global market to put small satellites into orbit. The event was also a triumph for Poland, Romania and Hungary whose first-ever satellites were part of the maiden flight.

VEGA, the newest rocket from French company Arianespace lifted off on its maiden flight carrying nine payloads into space including a 37cm spherical ‘ball of mirrors’ satellite, a physics experiment to test Einstein’s theory of general relativity.
