Doubts are being raised over whether President Hugo Chavez will be fit enough to fight elections in October. The president returned home this month after his third cancer operation in Cuba in just over a year. Now he faces an opposition united behind one candidate for the first time.

VENEZUELA’S President Hugo Chavez returned home on March 17 after his third cancer operation in Cuba in little more than a year.

He had spent three weeks in Havana and his renewed illness has caused political uncertainty ahead of presidential elections in October 2012 when he is seeking re-election.
