Svyatoslav Kaspe

Svyatoslav Kaspe is a professor at the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Political Science), and editor in chief at Politeia (Journal of Political Theory, Political Philosophy and Sociology of Politics). His academic degree is Doctor of Sciences in Political Institutes, Political Processes and Technologies (2009).
Mr. Kaspe trained as a historian and then as political scientist. Besides theoretical issues like political systems of empires, federalism, political parties and party systems, his research interests include, the nature of modern democracy, the practical applications of these concepts to the actual Russian realities.
He has published four books and some 50 journal articles and book chapters.
Mr. Kaspe has extensive experience in applied political analysis and political consulting – as a formal member of such Russian think tanks like Russian Public Policy Center (formerly) and Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (currently), as well as in his own personal capacity. He has prepared many political documents for governmental bodies (on the federal and regional levels), political parties, NGOs and independent research institutions, among others.
His latest book, “Political Form and Political Evil” was published by Moscow School of Civic Education, Moscow, Russia in 2016.
