Pramit Pal Chaudhuri

Pramit Pal Chaudhuri is the foreign editor of the Hindustan Times in New Delhi, India, and has been writing on international politics and economic issues since 1985.

He was appointed to the National Security Advisory Board to India’s Prime Minister for a two-year term in 2011.

He has several affiliations, including the Mont Pelerin Society, Aspen Institute Italia, Asia Society Global Council and Institute for International and Strategic Studies.

He is a delegate for strategic dialogues with the United States, China and the U.S.-India-Japan forum and was also part of a delegation which launched an India-Turkey forum.

He is also a senior associate at the consultancy Rhodium Group, New York, and a member of the Council of Emerging Markets.

He has been a media fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, fellow at the Henry Stimson Centre in Washington, D.C., a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Maryland-College Park, a South Asian fellow at Cornell University and a Schwarz Fellow with the Asia Society in New York. He remains an Associate Fellow with the last organisation.

Mr. Pal-Chaudhuri was part of an Aspen Institute India-Council for Foreign Relations team which wrote a report “The United States and India: A Shared Strategic Future.” He was also part of an Asia Society task force whose report on the “United States and South Asia After Afghanistan” was released in December 2012.

Mr. Pal Chaudhuri was educated in the United Kingdom and graduated in history from Cornell University in the United States in 1985. He has lived in or travelled through more than 50 countries.
